The Coles

Biography

The Coles, siblings Sophie and Walker Cole, are a directing duo based in Los Angeles whose contemporary storytelling combines strikingly cinematic compositions and nuanced performances. Their films pull us into a world filled with carefully crafted characters and familiar situations that succinctly communicate a range of human emotions.

Some of their recent work includes Tommee Tippee “Everywhere You Look” for McCann NY with the creative team behind the multi award-winning Fearless Girl, and ads for CVS (Digitas) and Tory Sport (Tory Burch). They just finished their first piece of non-branded content titled “Present Day, Athens,” which is an irreverent look at a day in the life of a local sheriff in the dusty, forgotten town of Athens, TX.

The Coles were born in Manhattan and grew up in the Connecticut suburbs. They were raised on set in a filmmaking family and spent vacations and days off from school PA-ing and assisting on various commercial projects. Both went on to attend the University of St. Andrews in Scotland where Sophie graduated with a degree in Art History and Walker, a degree in English Literature. Sophie began working as a costume designer on films and commercials, and Walker moved to Los Angeles where he worked as an art dealer. Serendipitously they found themselves collaborating on a film project, after which they formally joined forces to create a commercial directing reel and in 2016, The Coles were born.
